Isle of Purbeck Golf Club Dorset Wedding of Lisa & Ted

Last Saturday I headed down to Swanage for a wedding set to absolutely make the most of the fabulous Dorset Jurassic Coast – we started in Swanage, and ended up with a spectacular view across Poole Harbour from the Isle of Purbeck Golf Club.

When I arrived at Lisa’s house I was a little early, and the bride herself was missing in action (at the hairdresser’s :) ). But I was met by not only the chief bridesmaid, but also the 6 dogs in residence (not to mention the small menagerie of cats and fish, and horses who weren’t in the house – obviously, silly – but who had their own part to play later in the day).

It wasn’t long before Lisa arrived back home with the rest of her bridesmaids, and the preps got into full swing. I headed to St Mary’s in Swanage to meet Ted at the church – leaving Lisa’s Dad to drive her to the church with all her bridesmaids.

Ted and his groomsmen were waiting for me – Ted’s a first for me, a groom who is a triplet! However unlike last week’s twin groom there were no issues with me remembering which one was Ted, his head of curls was unmistakeable!

Lisa looked lovely in her strapless fitted gown, embroidered and decorated with crystals, and I loved the bridesmaid’s simple floral dresses – so fresh and summery (despite the lack of actual sunshine!).

Once Lisa & Ted were officially husband and wife we managed to get everyone together in the churchyard for one big formal picture of everyone before I set off after Lisa & Ted in a cross-country adventure!

I followed them on tracks and lanes I never knew existed up behind Swanage & Corfe to their own fields where we met their horses. It was a great stop for a few fun images, and a chance for Lisa to ride bareback in her wedding gown.

Further on we went – up onto the downs with a fabulous view across to Corfe Castle, and then down other side across country to meet up with the guests at the Isle of Purbeck Golf Club for the reception. The golf club has an amazing outlook over Poole Harbour, with great views of Brownsea Island and Shell Bay.

Ted works with wood, and it was a really nice personal touch for the wedding breakfast that he’d made and carved all the table name tags, and also the wedding post box out of a tree stump.

After spending some time chatting over champagne and canapés, we squeezed in another couple of formal family shots outside the club before everyone headed in for the wedding breakfast.

Once speeches were done (it was great that Lisa’s Dad passed the speech honour to her mum; I always like it when a couple break with tradition to make the wedding day entirely their own), Lisa, Ted and I took a couple of golf buggies out to 5th tee to make the most of the frankly spectacular view across the Jurassic Coastline out to the Isle of Wight, and enjoy a few quiet moments together (plus, being Lisa & Ted, yet more fooling around).

Finally it was time to greet the later guests, and get the evening started. Being Lisa & ted, they’d decided on no official first dance, and the band wasn’t to start until later. So I left them after the cutting of the cake to enjoy the rest of their wedding in the same way – totally chilled and relaxed, with lots of silly fun and loads of laughter.
Thank you Lisa & Ted – you were so much fun to be with, I loved spending time with you and your guests, and I wish you every joy in the future.
