Maunsel House Wedding Photography – Lucy & Malcoms Somerset Wedding

Lovely wedding last week at the fab Maunsel House in Somerset a venue I always enjoy working at. Unfortunately the weather was having none of it, a very drab grey cold and wet day it was indeed. Still no matter because inside it was warm, warm and happy a very lovely atmosphere indeed. Lucy and Malcolm have actually been together for some time, in fact almost 17 years … since their 6th form years to be precise wow! They have three very beautiful and genuinely fab children… a real lovely little family. Time to make their marriage vows at last, and that was what today was all about… the icing on the cake.

And that was exactly the way the day was, fab from begining to end, a very relaxed and lovely family affair with a fair sprinkling of very good and close friends to share the happiness. Lucy and Malcom did an amazing job on their wedding, stretching their budget to incredibly inventive lengths by getting creative and doing nearly all the work themselves. Lucy’s sister Ginnie spent a year collecting vintage brooches for the stunning bridal bouquet, and on the morning of the wedding Lucy spent some time putting her bridemaids flowers together. The reception was a fab vintage high tea, with quirky mismatched crockery all set off with stunning colour theme of teal with peacock feathers. The weather outside didn’t matter, in fact no one even noticed it, inside it was a summers day!

There was one first for me however…the first time I have actually had to ‘superglue (yes you heard that right, superglue) a Bride into her shoes!! I would so have loved to have seen how that one worked out later ;-) It worked though…those shoes stayed firmly on Lucy’s feet all day, even when she and Malcom took to the floor to wow us with their rendition of the classic dance by Vince and Mia from Pulp Fiction!

Lucy and Malcom… thank you for allowing me to share your very fab day, I wish you both all the happiness for the future.

Courtenay! You are an angel and amazingly my shoes held right till the end and even more amazingly they are not ruined!
Loving the shots on the blog, its nice to relive all the moments again so soon. Just want to mention one thing and that is that my gorgeous sister Ginnie is responsible for my bouquet and spent the year collecting the brooches and then hours and hours putting it all together!
Thank you so so much for everything, you went so far above and beyond the call of duty!
Lu xxxxxx

fabulous piccies – love the contrast between the peacock theme and the black and white. Just one thing – Ginny (Lucy’s sister) searched antique fayres etc for the brooches and lovingly sewed on each one individually to a silk hydrangea – simply gorgeous and something that will be cherished forever. It was a wonderful day

Hi Courtenay,

it’s so good to take a first glimpse at our wedding photos! Thanks for posting them up so quickly. It’s also very reassuring to know that our wedding day has been captured in such an honest, but poetic, journalistic style — exactly the reason we chose you and had hoped for. We can’t wait to arrange a time to come down and look through the whole portfolio from our day!

Thanks for all of your genuine help on the wedding day, outside of the photography duites too (unpicking suit top-pockets and keeping Lucy’s feet firmly on the ground ;) ). We’re very grateful.

See you very soon,
Mal x

p.s. All of those ‘changes’ after marriage that we mentioned on the day are starting to come true ;)

p.p.s I’m not sure if the ladies have mentioned this already, but it was actually Ginnie that spent a year collecting . . .

Hi Malcom

Thanks for your message, glad you are liking the pictures so far ;-)

My absolute pleasure…and the little bits and pieces…all part of the service sir ;-)

Ginnie has now been given full credit…didn’t want to create an upset there and those life changes…told you! ;-)

A package is on its way to you very shortly!

Speak soon

Best wishes

Courtenay :-)
